Synopsis:

As the resurrection of one of the Four Guardian Beasts, the “Phoenix,” draws near, Naofumi Iwatani, the Shield Hero, prepares for the coming battle. To unite the powers of the conflicting Four Legendary Heroes, he confronts the other three heroes—and finally reaches a reconciliation with them. However, due to a misunderstanding, Raphtalia is perceived as having the intent to inherit the throne, and becomes the target of assassins from the nation of Kutenrou. To resolve things with Kutenrou, Naofumi travels to the demi-human country of Siltvelt, the only nation with a working ferry route. There, the demi-humans, who worship the Shield Hero, give him a warm welcome. But Siltvelt is far from united—there are also those who reject Naofumi and his companions. At the same time, Kutenrou is plagued by political unrest, and Raphtalia is being used as a revolutionary figurehead.
