Synopsis:
The year is Tenpō 11 (1840). In an era shaken by a great famine and unrest, demons have begun to take human form and deceive people for sport. In a remote mountain village called Kadono, far from the bustling streets of Edo, live a brother and sister—Jinta and Suzune. Though they were outsiders who came to the village as children for mysterious reasons, they were welcomed and grew up happily among the villagers. The village is protected by a shrine maiden known as "Itsukihime", and Jinta, now grown, has taken on the role of her guardian. One day, while hunting demons in the forest, Jinta encounters a mysterious demon who speaks of a distant future— As Jinta walks a path of danger as a protector, Suzune sends him off with worry in her heart but a smile on her face. Meanwhile, Byakuya, the shrine maiden "Itsukihime", becomes the target of a deadly curse. As the fates of the three intertwine and begin to unravel, a great calamity that spans across eras—from Edo to the modern Heisei era—descends upon the world. A sweeping Japanese-style fantasy saga that follows a demon warrior's journey through 170 years, continuously questioning the meaning of wielding a blade.
