Synopsis:
Haori Takahara, the protagonist, travels alone to Torishirojima during summer vacation to help sort through his late grandmother’s belongings. After getting off the ferry—which only runs a few times a day—he encounters a girl. Her hair dances in the sea breeze as she gazes silently at the distant horizon, where the sky and sea blur together. Before he can speak, the girl vanishes, leaving Haori feeling as if he had seen a ghost. He heads to his grandmother’s house, where his aunt has already begun organizing the keepsakes. As he helps with the tidying, he slowly adapts to the unfamiliar rhythm of island life. A life close to nature, so different from his urban world, begins to stir something nostalgic within him—something long forgotten. He meets a girl who gazes at the sea. A girl who searches for a mysterious butterfly. A girl chasing memories and a pirate ship. A girl who lives in a quiet lighthouse. He makes new friends on the island. And then he thinks: I wish this summer vacation would never end.
